Amy Fleming, LPC

I believe in the human potential to grow and flourish despite the hardships we may endure. It is entirely possible to more deeply know and understand oneself through a healing therapeutic work.  I bring a relational approach to therapy informed by cognitive, somatic, and narrative therapies, as well as attachment and psychoanalytic theories. I work in collaboration with clients, honoring individual pacing and one’s courage to speak about suffering, while building a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust and safety. I am a trauma informed therapist and specialize in working with various forms of traumatic injury including sexual violence, natural disaster, narcissistic abuse, family of origin trauma/adverse childhood experiences, and spiritual abuse. I am an experienced EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist, I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and I am a certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC). Additionally, I have an advanced certificate in Spiritual Formation from Tyndale Seminary, so I can offer Christian spiritual insight and practices, if requested.

I believe a holistic approach to therapeutic work offers some of the most profound growth in our understanding of self and who we are in relationship with others. A holistic approach encompasses several modalities including cognitive, somatic, and narrative work to harmonize a mind, body, and spirit attunement of self. I also incorporate the exploration of faith and spirituality as a most powerful influence on knowing who we are even in the midst of suffering.

The stories we hold about our humanness have been one of my great interests for as long as I can remember. Whether these stories are sacred, tragic, grieved, or hopeful, you hold a gift as the story-teller of your life. It would be my honor to explore the story with you.
