Day 2 - Let Joy Be a Way
You will make known to me the way of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
Psalm 16: 11
Meditate or Reflect
Sometimes joy is outwardly expressed in an upbeat, positive emotion; yet, more often joy is experienced as a sublime knowing, or confidence. Joy is the assurance that God is in control. We can be “ok” in His presence, or we can delight in His presence – either way is an experience of joy with God. This verse reminds us that God is in control because He “will make known to me the way of life.” And historically, the “right hand” is a symbol of power. God is in control, and that is a great relief, a type of joy. Take a breath in this moment, and acknowledge God is in control of this day.
Heart, Mind, and Soul
Tune in to how you experience joy in your heart. How does it feel? Like a soft rain? Like morning sunshine? Like a songbird taking flight? How does joy in God’s presence feel to you? Let joy in your heart be a way of life today. Take a moment to let this joy into your heart.
Turn to your thoughts. Memorize all or part of this verse: “In your presence is fullness of joy.” Let joy in your mind be a way of life today. Take a moment to let this joy into your mind.
Listen to the eternal part of your being, your soul, as you wait in the eternal Lord’s presence where there is fullness of joy. Let joy in your soul be a way of life today. Take a moment to listen to this joy in your soul.
